レッスン直後に書く時間がなく、そのまま日が空いてしまったので、話した内容は覚えていない。
Lesson 4 の Try をやった。
- I didn't recognise him with his new haircut.
最後の haircut が聞き取れなかった。
- Our office looks dull. It needs some colours.
dull : boring
↑dull ってどういう意味？と聞かれ。
He wants to make it more vibrant. [lively]
↑じゃあ colours ってどういう意味？と聞かれ、うーん文字通り色彩豊かという意味もあるのかもしれないけど、もっとこう比喩的な意味で、愉快な空間とかそういう意味で使われていると思うんだけど、と回答。vibrant / lively という表現で言い換えられると教わった。

mum が聞き取れなかったかもな。
at, on, in に関して、疑問点を思い出したので Biz Tips の例文について質問。
Sherlock Holmes lives in 221b Baker Street. (Standard American English uses "in" for seasons, time, and general locations.)
in はイギリス英語、という例文だが、じゃあアメリカ英語では？と聞くと、「住所が具体的な番地？じゃないなら lives in Baker Street と in を使うが、221b と特定の地点を指しているなら lives at 221b Baker Street と at を使う」と。ああなるほど！これでわかった、すっきりした。
- The weather's a bit cold, innit? The weather's a bit cold, isn't it?
a bit cold が「ア ビッ コーゥ」のように聞こえて、cool かな？と思ったが違った。と思ったが意味的には近かった。

ちょっと長いので be meeting the client が meeting client だっけ？とか、短期記憶が狂ったりはした。
